Idea to episode

Ideas arrive unfinished. This page is for the ones that are only a sentence so far: type it in, draft it for two credits, read what it becomes, and either confirm it or try the sentence again. The expensive part never happens until you have seen the whole episode on paper.

The draft costs 2 credits. A 60-second episode at standard 720p usually lands around 362 credits, shown exactly before you confirm.

Drafting is the cheap part

A draft costs two credits and returns the entire episode as text: title, synopsis, every scene with its cast, set, line and duration, and the exact price to render it. Rendering a 60-second episode at standard quality costs well over a hundred times that, which is why the product is built around drafting freely and confirming rarely.

Run the idea three ways. Change the setting, change who is in the room, change what the protagonist wants. Each draft is a few seconds and two credits, and the differences between them tell you which version of the idea has an episode in it.

What a rough idea needs before it drafts well

Not much. The drafter can work from "a courier is handed the wrong thing", but it works better from "a bike courier is handed a car key instead of a package and told to deliver it to a woman who insists she has never owned a car". The second version names the object, the recipient and the contradiction, and those three details are enough to carry seven scenes.

If you are stuck, borrow the structure: someone, in a specific place, receives or discovers something that should not exist. Fill in the three nouns and draft.

Reading a draft for what to fix

The review screen shows the episode as a script. Three things are worth checking before anything else. Does the first scene tell us who this is and what they want? Does one of the middle scenes change the situation? Does the last line leave a question? If any of those is missing, the fix is almost always in the idea rather than in the scenes, so adjust the sentence and draft again.

Small problems, such as a line that is too long or a scene that could lose four seconds, are better fixed directly on the review screen, where the price updates as you edit.

Committing to a version

When a draft reads right, confirm it. The total shown is charged once, every scene renders at the same time, and the episode assembles itself when the last scene finishes. If you confirmed a 60-second version and want to see the two-minute cut of the same idea, draft again at the longer length; the drafter will expand the story rather than stretch the scenes.

Episodes you did not render leave no trace beyond the draft record, which expires after a day. There is nothing to clean up.

Ideas that grow

Some ideas turn out to be bigger than one episode. Each episode lives in a series, and drafting the next one in the same series hands the drafter everything that came before. The idea you typed on a Tuesday becomes a premise, then a season, without a planning document in between.

Make the series public when it is ready and it gets its own page with the poster, the synopsis and each published episode in order.

Questions

What if my idea is only a few words?
The box needs at least a dozen characters, but a short sentence works. Add a place and an object and the draft will be noticeably better.
How many times can I draft?
As often as you like at two credits each. Drafts expire after 24 hours if you do not confirm them.
Can I keep a draft and confirm it later?
Within 24 hours, yes; the review screen can be reopened from the studio. After that, draft again.
Does drafting use my own characters?
Yes. Characters you generate are listed ahead of the presets and the drafter prefers them, especially when you name them in the idea.
Who owns the episodes I make?
You do. We do not take ownership of your episodes; the terms of service cover only the licence needed to host and run the service. Copyright treatment differs by country, so for commercial use get advice from a lawyer. Read the terms.

Draft the idea before you decide

Two credits shows you the whole episode on paper. Confirm only the version you like.
